A $50 administrative fee will be charged for each entry (except for manufacturers entering retailers in the retailer categories – these are free of charge). This fee helps cover web site maintenance and production costs for the Image Awards ceremony. The main SIMA contact at each participating company will receive an invoice for all of their entries after their entries have been submitted, and by September 30th at the latest.
Final entry fee payment deadline is October 14th.Entry fees not paid by this time will result in the entry being removed from the ballot.
Entry Rules:
• All paid regular and board builder SIMA members are eligible to submit entries. The main contact at each paid regular or board builder SIMA member company has been emailed unique login information for this entry site.
• Paid regular and board builder SIMA member companies may only enter their own brands or products in any and all of the award categories for which they feel their brands or products are appropriate.
• You may not enter any other company, brand
or product even if your own brand or product is not eligible in
a particular category.
• You may only enter one brand or product
per award category.
• Paid regular and board builder SIMA member companies will also enter retailers in the three retail categories of Men’s, Women’s and Breakthrough Retailer of the Year. These entries are free of charge, and you will not be asked to submit any materials - just simply the retailer’s name and location and a brief reason why you think they should be nominated. Enter a retailer in all three categories and be entered in a drawing to win your company 5 free tickets to the Image Awards ceremony!
• Each entry (except for retail categories)
must be accompanied by a short written statement, four (4) images,
company/brand logo, and the proper verification information. Detailed
specifications are below.
Materials Specifications:
It is SIMA’s goal to highlight all the participating brands
in the most creative and professional manner. Please follow the
specs outlined below so that we can give your company the attention
that it deserves during the voting process and nominee presentation
videos at the Image Awards ceremony. To see how your materials

The following materials are required to complete
your entry in each category. Materials must meet the specifications
listed or they will not be used: SIMA cannot and will not take responsibility for editing statements or photos; materials that do not meet the specifications will not be used. Please note that no changes can be made to your entries once the entry deadline has passed and voting is in process.
Written Statement:
A short written statement (400 words maximum) is required as to
why your brand or product deserves to be considered as a nominee
in the category. This statement will help educate voters on your
product or brand. Your statement will be published as entered;
SIMA cannot and will not take responsibility for editing statements.
Images:
Required: Up to four (4) images maximum. All images (landscape or portrait orientation) must be at least 1024 pixels wide x 1024
pixels tall at 72 DPI in JPEG, GIF or PNG format only. Please provide images that are relative to the category you are entering. If your product has a
special innovation or feature you would like to bring to attention to please provide clear, close-up images of this innovation or product
highlight .
Please label your images similar to the following pattern. The first two letters of the image will be the first letters of the category you are nominating your brand for. If the category was "Womens Marketing campaign of the year your images would be labeled “WM-brandname-1.jpg”,
“WM-brandname-2.jpg” etc (the WM standing for Womens Marketing). The last number in the image name will dictate the order the image is displayed in during
the nomination and voting process.
Company / Brand Logos:
Required: Please provide a JPEG of your logo at least 200 pixels wide x 200 pixels high with a maximum size of 1500 x 1500 pixels. Please give your logo a specific name, not just logo.jpg. An example would be "Volcom-Womens-logo.jpg"
* Please follow these specs to ensure images and logos submitted with your entries are displayed properly in the online voting system.
Note that if the images or logos you submit do not meet these specs or are not labeled in this pattern, they might not appear in the
same size as the images submitted by competing entries or in the order in which you preferred they appear!
Verification:
Provide the names of five surf retailers where your product or brand could be purchased between January 1, 2011 and September 1, 2011; for marketing campaign categories, provide the name of at least one consumer print publication where the campaign could be seen between January 1 and September 1, 2011 (approx. the September or October 2011 issues of most endemic magazines).
